Volunteer fire companies in Greenwich seeking new volunteers
Various volunteer fire companies within the Town of Greenwich are seeking new volunteers
The Greenwich Fire Department is planning on hosting a CT Firefighter certification program this May which will run until the 1st week in August.
The GFD will conduct intake interviews, criminal checks, online classes, fire gear, and provide a pre-employment physical which is no cost to the candidate.
The Department is also seeking traffic support and administration members.
By joining the volunteer fire service, you will be serving the Greenwich community and it’s a great way to network if you are a new resident. If you have the desire to help and be a part of our team, we can find something for you to do!
The Explorer program is also offered to youth at the Glenville and Sound Beach Firehouses.
The Explorer program is a modified training program for youth 14-18 years old. Many Explorers become certified volunteer firefighters for the department after they turn 18 years old.
The GFD also has incentives in place for active volunteers:
$1,000.00 Tax Abatement Program, Call payouts, training stipends, tuition reimbursement for fire-related courses, in-house fire training, discounted health insurance (after passing probation), and membership to the Greenwich Federal Employees Credit Union.
