News Release: Greenwich Age Friendly

Over the past six years, the Greenwich Commission on Aging partnered with Town Departments, external stakeholders, community organizations, and residents to make the Town better by providing opportunities for greater connection and enhancing the livability quotient for all. Through this process, we identified and addressed barriers to participation and well-being of older adults across eight critical domains: Community and Health Care, Transportation, Housing, Social Participation, Outdoor Spaces and Buildings, Respect and Social Inclusion, Civic Participation and Employment, and Communication and Information. Through the active engagement of all sectors of our community, we are proud to announce that the Town of Greenwich is the first community in the State of Connecticut to receive the official designation as an Age-Friendly Community by AARP and the World Health Organization’s Network of Age-Friendly Communities.
