Sail for a Cause: Supporting Binney Park’s Future - Windstar Cruises - Presented by JMC Getaways

The Binney family has been deeply connected to Old Greenwich, with a legacy of community service and conservation. Edwin Binney, an industrialist known for his role in the creation of the Crayola Crayon, and his wife Helen Binney Kitchel, a philanthropist, dedicated much of their lives to preserving the local environment.

Edwin Binney’s contributions went beyond business, focusing on the preservation of the land around him. Helen Binney Kitchel was instrumental in the conservation efforts, particularly in Binney Park, which she worked to protect and maintain for future generations.

JMC Getaways Giving Back: Honoring a Legacy

In February 2020, the moment we first saw Binney Park, we fell in love with this small, beautiful green space. It immediately felt like something we wanted to help preserve.


Friends of Binney Park is seeking donations to continue its vital work of maintaining and enhancing the park. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will directly support efforts to preserve and improve the beauty of Binney Park for generations to come.

Donations of $300 or more will sponsor the planting of a full tree, but any amount helps.

JMC Getaways is committed to supporting this cause by giving back through travel, just as Edwin Binney did with his creation of Crayola crayons. A portion of the proceeds from our Windstar Cruises Greek Isles Group Sailing aboard the Wind Spirit will go toward supporting this initiative. Tour Conductor credits earned from this sailing will also be donated directly to local conservation projects.
