The popular Irish sport of hurling is coming to Citi Field in the “New York Hurling Classic” with a four-team tournament on Saturday, November 16. Building off the highly successful events at Fenway Park in 2015, 2017 and 2018, a three-game tournament will be played with four counties competing for the Players Champions Cup. The event will also feature an Irish festival complete with music and dancing. Tickets for the New York Hurling Classic are on sale at www.mets.com/hurling. Hurling, widely believed to the be world’s oldest field game, combines agility, strength and intensity, earning it the reputation as the “fastest game on grass” among its passionate followers. In partnership with Fenway Sports Management, Metropolitan Hospitality, the Gaelic Players Association, the Gaelic Athletic Association and Aer Lingus, ‘Ireland’s Ancient Warrior Sport’ will be played Citi Field for the first time in the ballpark’s 10-year history. Limerick will defend the Players Champions Cup with Wexford, Tipperary and Kilkenny also competing. The New York Hurling Classic will feature the very best and most competitive hurling rivals from Ireland beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.
