DESCRIPTION:Laurel House\, founded in Stamford\, Connecticut in 1984 is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that helps individuals and families in Darien\, Greenwich\, New Canaan\, Norwalk\, Stamford\, Weston\, Westport\, Wilton and surrounding areas in Fairfield and Westchester Counties to achieve and sustain mental health in order to lead fulfilling lives in the community. Its core purpose is early intervention\, social inclusion\, and recovery.  https://laurelhouse.net   Proceeds from An Evening with Laurel House make it possible to sustain Laurel House's life-changing programs and services: Supported Education and Supported Employment ensure successful transition to post-secondary education and vocational certification and/or competitive jobs. Thinking Well (Cognitive Remediation) is a therapeutic evidence-based program that addresses cognitive impairment associated with mental illness. It improves executive functioning and skills linked to better functioning in the workplace\, school\, and community.  Safe\, stable\, affordable housing is combined with critical support services for independent living.  Skill building workshops to increase communication and coping skills\, self-sufficiency\, and independent living skills. Isolated individuals are served through social outreach. rtor\, a gateway website to mental health resources\, is a free online service that helps families and individuals connect with "Family-Endorsed" treatment and services.
